Trailblazing with Lori: 31 Days and Counting
Candidate's Corner: Greetings! Flipping through my January calendar tells quite a story about you for the month ahead. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to host Meet & Greets in your homes and to those who have, on short notice, picked up packets of invitations for stuffing and mailing. Campaign staff is buzzing away both in the field and behind the scenes. Tomorrow begins what could be thought of as the "red meat" part of the campaign with the first candidate's forum and I can't wait! I've enjoyed hearing about what issues are on your mind thus far and look forward to discussing them further with everyone. So you don't forget, print this note out and tape it to the bathroom mirror as morning reminder: Candidates' Forum tomorrow morning at Temple Emanu-el, Marblehead at 9:00 a.m. I'd love the support and if you know you'll be there, please email Marcia Sweeney with a quick note. Viva the grassroots! ~Lori
Grassroots Sprouts: It's a New Year and a New Time for the Lori Ehrlich campaign; time to get revved up for a sprint to the finish. Last year is over and we're already in the final stretch - with just a month until the primary, it's time to get cooking. Speaking of cooking, there's a great opportunity to really help Team Lori: join us for a very special fundraiser! On January 13th, 2008, from 4-6pm, Lori's going to be at Sweeney's Retreat in Marblehead, on 18 Atlantic Ave. The Mystery Guest is revealed - it's Jan Schlichtmann, the attorney played by John Travolta in "A Civil Action." Everyone's welcome, but those who give a gift of $250 or more will receive a signed copy of the book "A Civil Action." Anyone who donates $500 will also have a chance at a rare, autographed hard-cover version of the book.
Say What? Lots of people have been asking just how they can get more involved in the campaign - and with the primary rapidly approaching, we need the help now more than ever.
Tip 1: There's no better way to help the campaign than by getting on the phone, calling your neighbors and identifying our support. (These newsletters make aThis is a grassroots campaign and we're going to need every last person we can get to wade through these waters. We'll provide the phones, the location, the scripts and all the coffee you could ever drink, if you can provide an hour or two of your time. This is the most important part of the campaign and we're asking everyone to be a part of the team!
Tip 2: Calling on the phone is as easy as pie and we need a few Super Volunteers who are willing to be Precinct Captains and Poll Checkers. Precinct Captains help organize the volunteers in their precinct - and bring in new ones, if they can. They'll also be leading the charge in their designated precinct on election day. Poll Checkers make sure there's no shenanigans on election day; they also have the incredibly important task of keeping track of who's voted and who hasn't, so we can make sure all of our supporters get in the ballot box come February 5th. Contact Ryan to learn more about either position and what kind of commitments they are, at 781-599-6114 or Ryan Adams.
Tip 3: Lawn signs are on the way! If you'd like to get one or would like to volunteer in any capacity, please call Shelley at 781-599-2725 or email lawyermom@aol.com.
